3.14 (CEO Chae Deok-byeong) made an announcement on the 15th that it recently launched its paper robot called ‘Kamibot’ through Amazon and started selling it worldwide and is planning to enter South American markets after signing an export contract with a distributor in Mexico.

Kamibot, which was developed in last August, is a product that is recognized for its excellence as it surpassed sales goal in just a month from foreign crowd funding. 3.14 introduced Kamibot through Indiegogo and Kickstarter at the end of last year and easily achieved sales goal of $30,000 and $50,000 respectively. It also recently funded 510,000 yen ($4,453) from Japanese crowd funding platform called Makuake in just 10 days and surpassed its sales goal.

It is also signing off on supply contracts with kindergartens one after the other by working with South Korean private equity funds. It established supply contracts with about 40 kindergartens along with a teaching aids manufacturer called HKY S&C and a private equity fund called Hyundai Plus Investment and is planning to establish supply contracts with more than 100 kindergartens this year.

Kamibot is an educational robot that converges paper and robot and it is made by covering a small circular robot with characters such as Gundam, Frankenstein, and Dracula that are made out of paper. There is also fun in making your own characters by either folding, cutting, and coloring variety of characters that are provided by 3.14.

Kamibot can be controlled by Smartphones as it is equipped with infrared light, ultrasonic wave sensor, motor, and LED light and provides ‘Kamiblock’ and ‘Kamicard’ that can be easily coded by kids through EPL (Educational Programming Language). Kids can easily code and manufacture Kamiblock and Kamicard through computers or mobile devices that are based on Android and iOS. There Kamibots then move depending on commands that are coded by kids.

3.14 is expecting that its exports will greatly increase this year by launching its products on Amazon. Fact that its products drew positive responses from crowds at ‘CES 2017’, which was held in Las Vegas from the 5th till the 8th, is uplifting energies around the company.
